Vaigai Dam is constructed across the Vaigai river and is located at Andipatti, Melmangalam, Madurai.

It is about 70kms away from Madurai. It holds a great political importance apart from being the one of the best to be visited place in Madurai.

It is the main source of water supply to the population of Madurai for both drinking and irrigation purposes.

Mr. K. Kamarajar, inaugurated the dam in the year 1959 during his tenure as a Chief Minister.

The dam is 111ft tall and is surrounded by greenery all over. There is a park too for recreation and a small bridge connects both the sides of the park.

A place to be visited with family and children to never miss the joy of the sight of the water flow, greenery, flowers etc.
