ISKCON Temple – Chennai

International Society for Krishna consciousness is shortly known as ISKCON.

ISKCON Temple is exclusively dedicated to Lord Krishna and A.C. Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada founded this society. ISKCON temple is located in the southern part of Chennai and resides in an area called as Sholinganallur.

On an area of 1.5 acres of land, the temple has been erected and happens to be the largest Radha Krishna temple in the whole of Tamil Nadu. Lord Krishna has worshipped here along with Radha, Rukmini, and Sathyabhama.

This is popular for its artistic combinations of modernity and latest scientific technologies. 7000 sq ft of land has been occupied for construction of a hall where cultural programmes take place and prasadham is distributed on the ground floor.

Outside the temple, many shops for crafts and idols of the Lord are sold for the devotees to purchase for their worships at their homes. Unlike any other temples, the deities are erected out of marble stone and that’s the specialty of ISKCON.
